Malaysia to Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) to begin construction this month
The Rapid Transit System (RTS) that will link Malaysia and Singapore may start construction by the end of November. The new update on the Light Rail project comes from reports in Malaysia as well as Singapore. A virtual launch is planned for 22nd November, in conjunction with the birthday of the sultan of Johor Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Reports from the Johor Royal Press Office said that Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has been presented with the full project details. The briefing was provided by the Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) CEO Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim at the Mados office in Istana Bukit Pelangi
The details included the final designs for the station in Johor as well as the plans to commence construction. It’s believed that the Sultan has asked for construction on the Bukit Chagar station to start immediately after the virtual launch.
For those that speak Bahasa, you can check out updates on the Sultan’s facebook page: www.facebook.com/officialsultanibrahim/
Previously, it was stated that construction for the project would commence in January 2021 (see video below).
