Jaguar Land Rover to create Smart City testing hub in Shannon, Ireland

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is planning to create Smart City testing hub in Shannon, a town in Country Clare, Ireland. The new Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI) will create connected roads that use smart junctions. It will also have an air corridor for UAVs to travel from the nearby Shannon Airport.

JLR is working with software, mobility and telecommunications companies to create the smart city hub. Their plan is to perform real-world testing of connected smart city technologies. The technologies will allow autonomous vehicles to share the streets with other vehicles and pedestrians. The company will use the site as a test-bed for future electric co-sharing vehicles.
