Pakistan approves US$7.2bn rail project

Pakistan’s Central Development Working Party has approved a uS$7.2 billion project to upgrade the railway connections between Karachi and Peshawar. The 1,872km rail line will be developed as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and will link Kashgar in China, with Pakistan’s Gwadar Port.

CPEC is a $60bn project has been under construction since 2013 and is part of China President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative. You can find more information on CPEC at http://cpec.gov.pk/ and in the video below.
