Pakistan approves US$7.2bn rail project

Pakistan’s Central Development Working Party has approved a uS$7.2 billion project to upgrade the railway connections between Karachi and Peshawar. The 1,872km rail line will be developed as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and will link Kashgar in China, with Pakistan’s Gwadar Port.

CPEC is a $60bn project has been under construction since 2013 and is part of China President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative. You can find more information on CPEC at and in the video below.
