Indonesia offers possible new road and bridge projects

During a recent teleconference conducted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Indonesia has announced that they will open up tenders for new toll roads and a major bridge project.

The five toll road construction projects on offer would be:

  • Semanan-Balaraja toll road
  • Cikunir-Ulujami toll road
  • Sentul Selatan-Karawang Barat toll road
  • Patimban toll road
  • Semarang Harbour toll road

Interestingly, the bridge project promoted is to connect the islands of Bintan and Batam. The islands are popular with tourists visiting by ferry from nearby Singapore. A 7km bridge has been discussed in recent years, with proposals discussed to provide a link between Batam and Bintam via the smaller island of Tanjung Sauh.

Currently, the Semanan-Balaraja toll road construction is available for auction with the other projects awaiting the results of feasibility studies.

Drop me a line at if you’d like to discuss this project in more detail.
