Indonesia offers possible new road and bridge projects
During a recent teleconference conducted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Indonesia has announced that they will open up tenders for new toll roads and a major bridge project.
The five toll road construction projects on offer would be:
- Semanan-Balaraja toll road
- Cikunir-Ulujami toll road
- Sentul Selatan-Karawang Barat toll road
- Patimban toll road
- Semarang Harbour toll road
Interestingly, the bridge project promoted is to connect the islands of Bintan and Batam. The islands are popular with tourists visiting by ferry from nearby Singapore. A 7km bridge has been discussed in recent years, with proposals discussed to provide a link between Batam and Bintam via the smaller island of Tanjung Sauh.
Currently, the Semanan-Balaraja toll road construction is available for auction with the other projects awaiting the results of feasibility studies.
