Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link restarts construction… again

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, China Communications Construction East Coast Rail Link has announced that the CCC-ECRL project has received approval from the Malaysian government to resume some of its tunnels and viaducts construction work. The US$10 billion project has been on hiatus since movement restrictions were implemented on March 18th to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The project was also suspended in July 2018 after a change of government in Malaysia led to all major constructions being re-evaluated and cost-engineered. Malaysia is still under a Movement Control Order (MCO), but essential construction work is permitted to continue at half-capacity.

Drop me a line at if you’d like to discuss this project in more detail.
