São Paulo to invest $US10bn into rail and bus network (Brazil)
São Paulo’s government has approved investment of approximately $US10.8 billion to expand its rail and bus rapid transit networks by 2023.
The Pluriannual Plan (PPA) will be funded through a public-private partnerships.
Railway extensions planned:
- Line 9/Emerald to Varginha
- Line 13/Jade to Bonsucesso in Guarulhos to the São Paulo CBD
- Line 11/Coral to Barra Funda.
Improvements also planned:
- Line 7/Ruby
- Line 8/Diamond
- Line 10/Turquoise
- Line 11/Coral
- Line 12/Sapphire.
- Monorail Line 15-Silver from São Mateus east to Cidade Tiradentes
- Monorail Line 17-Gold
São Paulo’s plan is to increase the number of annual journeys by metro, commuter rail and bus to 3.39 billion by 2023.
